ROLE OF SOCIAL-CULTURAL COMPETENCE IN TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGE TO STUDENTS OF NONLINGUISTIC TRAINING DIRECTIONS

Abstract. The author considers the role of social-cultural competence in teaching a foreign language to the students of nonlinguistic training directions, discusses the features of social-cultural competence of the students from this category, and shows the significance of background knowledge, knowledge about the culture of the target language country for the formation of social-cultural competence, students’ ability and willingness to intercultural communication.
