FEATURES OF ONOMATOPOEIC UNITS FUNCTIONING IN THE ENGLISH, RUSSIAN AND GERMAN LANGUAGES

Abstract. The authors study the onomatopoeia (sound symbolism) as a non-productive way of word formation; pay special attention to the onomatopoeic theory of language origin, as well as to the differentiation of onomatopoeia and interjections, emphasize the consideration of onomatopoeic units functioning by the example of the Russian, English and German languages both in literary works and in advertising names and slogans.
