RHYTHM AND PARALLELISM AS COMPONENT TECHNIQUES OF PERSUASION IN POLITICAL DISCOURSE (BY THE MATERIAL OF INAUGURAL SPEECH OF CURRENT PRESIDENT OF THE U.S. BARACK OBAMA)

Abstract. The author presents the analysis of various linguistic and rhetorical devices used by current U.S. President Barack Obama during his inaugural speech in January 2009, pays special attention to the rhythm and repetition, as components of a complex set of persuasion methods in political discourse, and tells that the study of speech in this respect is the key to understanding how language becomes a tool by which any political action or campaign is implemented.
