Baklagova Yuliya Viktorovna
Kuban State University

Abstract. The article is devoted to the research of linguistic behaviour of the verb "to make" in the first causative meaning - the causative construction "to make somebody/something do something". The semantic features of the verb categorical paradigm are revealed by determining the type of causation (contact or distant) and taxonomic category that represents the structure of an event and the configuration of its components. The ways of conveying the component "to cause" when translating the causative construction with the verb "to make" in the Russian language - the possibilities of equivalent translation and application of transformations are also considered.
Key words and phrases: синтаксический каузатив, каузативное значение, таксономическая категория, контактная/дистантная каузация, трансформация, syntactic causative, causative meaning, taxonomic category, contact/distant causation, transformation
