LITERARY LANGUAGE IN THE CONCEPTIONS OF V. A. BOGORODITSKY AND L. V. SHCHERBA

Abstract. The article examines the views of V. A. Bogoroditsky and L. V. Shcherba on the Russian literary language. The paper describes the conceptions of both scientists on the origin and development of Russian literary language. Role of dialects in the formation of national languages is analyzed from the viewpoint of their correlation with the norm. Literary language in the conceptions of V. A. Bogoroditsky and L. V. Shcherba is represented in its evolutional meaning. The author shows that, according to both researchers, an important characteristic of a literary language is its fixation in the written form.
