Asadulaeva Patimat Ur'yatovna
Dagestan State Institute of National Economy

Abstract. The article considers the names of ancient measures of length, weight, volume and width in the Kumyk language. Some of the most famous and popular among Kumyks units of measurement are presented, and their features and differences compared to other ancient Turkic and Turkic words, the presence of which, of course, emphasizes the identity and self-expression of each individual nation, are shown. Unfortunately, with the introduction of a uniform metric system, this identity has gone. It is important to note the fact that some lexemes are not completely dropped out of active use, they are still being used as part of phraseological units and are colouring the vocabulary.
Key words and phrases: кумыкский язык, тюркские языки, пассивный словарный запас, метрическая система, лексика, представляющая старинные меры длины, ширины, объема, веса, the Kumyk language, the Turkic languages??, passive vocabulary, metric system, vocabulary representing ancient measure of length, width, volume, weight
