IMAGE OF NARRATOR AS SOURCE OF VALUE ASSESSMENTS IN NOVELS BY JANE AUSTEN

Zemlyanaya Anna Sergeevna
Southern Federal University

Abstract. The image of a narrator is presented as the main source of assessment implementation within the framework of J. Austin’s artistic text. Austin’s narrator potentially, and in some cases clearly, is identified as a center of assessment meanings irradiation, however, narrator’s assessments do not appear to the reader as a solid basis for the centripetal interpretation of events development. A narrator, respectively, explicitly or implicitly expresses his own evaluative view on the virtual world of the narration, represents the value system of a social-cultural community to which he belongs, and focuses the reader’s attention to the textual space, entering into communicative relationships with it.
