EXPRESSING OF SUBJECT’S INTELLECTUAL LEVEL BY FRENCH AND ENGLISH IDIOMS

Abstract. The article deals with the analysis of the French and English idioms expressing correlation between the notions: "intellect – gender", "subject’s physical and psychic qualities – intellectual level", "occupation – intellectual level", "place of dwelling – marker of subject’s intellectual level". The article presents the comparative and typological characteristics of representative material, and considers the national axiology of semantic links of intellect with psycho-physical features of a subject, his social status.
