REFLECTION OF ETHNIC STEREOTYPES ABOUT EUROPEAN PEOPLES IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract. In modern linguistics special attention is paid to studying the language in close connection with the culture of the people speaking it, in particular, to researching the reflections of stable cultural-national ideas - stereotypes - in the language. We live in the epoch of economic, scientific, cultural and political contacts expanding. Consequently it is necessary to understand, which potential problems may appear in the process of intercultural communication and to find the ways of overcoming them. One of the most urgent problems of intercultural communication, namely, ethnic stereotypes and their reflection in the English language, is considered in the article.
