GROTESQUE AS A METHOD FOR DEMYTHOLOGIZATION OF THE REALITY IN "OLD YEARS IN POSHEKHONYE" BY M. Y. SALTYKOV-SHCHEDRIN

Abstract. The article is dedicated to the problem of demythologization of the reality in "Old Years in Poshekhonye" by M. Y. Saltykov-Shchedrin. The author believes that the grotesque motives and images play a key role in the creation of the traditional for the writer’s creative activity "distorted" world. Using grotesque as a method for demythologization of the reality M. Y. Saltykov-Shchedrin shows the gradual decay of the basic moral and ethical values of the mankind.
