LINGUISTIC SPECIFICITY OF THE ENGLISH NEWSPAPER HEADLINES AND PRACTICAL DIFFICULTIES OF THEIR TRANSLATION

Abstract. The article considers the stylistic and lexico-grammatical peculiarities of the English newspaper-informational materials. As the material shows, the phraseological units, acronyms, neologisms can be used in the headlines which creates the additional difficulties of their translation. The use of various transformations in the translation of the English newspaper headlines, as the study shows, does not affect the transfer of the sense and does not violate the functionality of the headlines (the informative function, the affecting function).
