MENTAL FEATURES OF SET EXPRESSIONS CODING WOMAN'S INTELLECT IN THE ENGLISH AND RUSSIAN LANGUAGES

Abstract. In the article mental features of the set expressions of the English and Russian languages which code woman's intellect are considered. The mental features with positive and negative connotations "wit" and "stupidity" are revealed and analyzed. A number of supplementary semantic characteristics which verbalize jointly the idea about woman's intellect is given. As a result of the analysis the author shows that the expressions meaning directly woman's intellect reflect mainly the negative features of woman's mind, the characteristics "wit" and "stupidity" are realized through the selectional features the choice of which is quite various.
