REPRESENTATION OF ETHNIC FEATURES OF POLYETHNIC REGION IN URBANONYM

Abstract. The article is devoted to the representation of historical, cultural, economic, social and linguistic features of a polyethnic region in toponymic vocabulary. Special attention is paid to the analysis of urbanonyms of the capital of Dagestan - Makhachkala - in the stated aspect. The paper reveals the diverse palette of the Dagestan languages onomasticon. The author concludes that it is the sphere of urbanonimy that most clearly represents the ethnic features of polyethnic Dagestan peoples.
