GENDER DOMINANTS IN JANE AUSTEN’S CREATIVE WORK (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE NOVEL "PRIDE AND PREJUDICE")

Abstract. The article examines gender dominants as a structure-forming basis of the author’s original gender worldview by the material of the women’s prose. Jane Austen’s creative work laid the foundations for the development of women’s prose of the Victorian epoch. The paper emphasizes that due to the textual representation at the verbal and semantic level gender dominants determine the meaningful characteristics of the text. The researchers interpret Jane Austen’s novel within the framework of author’s gender which manifested itself in the system of personages.
