MULTI-COMPONENT COMPOUND STATEMENT AS A TEXT COMPONENT (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE NOVEL BY B. AKUNIN "PELAGIA AND THE WHITE BULLDOG")

Abstract. The article aims to identify the text-formative functions of the multi-component compound statements (MCS) in the novel by B. Akunin "Pelagia and the White Bulldog"). The analysis indicates that the multi-component compound statements are the important means of text organization, coherence of its elements. Multi-component compound statements mostly occupy the strong position in the text, being located at the beginning or at the end of the textual division elements (paragraphs, parts, novel on the whole). Using MCS, optimal in size, the author creates the text stylized under the work of Russian literature of the classical period, rather complicated syntactically and at the same time available for the modern reader.
