ON GENRE AFFILIATION OF SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL TEXTS AND ITS IMPACT ON TRANSLATION

Abstract. The article deals with the specificity of stylistic affiliation and translation of scientific and technical documentation. The author studies the peculiarities of genre diversity of such documentation, the asymmetry of genres at different levels in the English and Russian languages ??and, as a consequence, the peculiarities of the translation. The research is based on the analysis of the translated texts of scientific and technical style of the sublanguage of coal-mining industry. As a result, the author concludes that the scientific and technical style is not so strict and monotonous as it is considered and to translate texts of such style the expanded set of techniques and sometimes the artistic approach are required.
