SOME ENGLISH CAUSATIVE CONSTRUCTIONS AND THEIR MORPHOLOGICAL AND SYNTACTIC STATUS

Arslanov Valeriyan Shaimardanovich
Elabuga Institute (Branch) of the Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University

Abstract. The article examines some causative English constructions (to make / have smb. do smth.) from the viewpoint of their morphological and syntactic structures. The author is prone to consider them morphological means, forming a core of a functional and semantic field of causation. Consequently, they are interpreted as simple verbal predicates, forming simple sentences rather than compound verbal predicates, which form complex subordinate predicates with a general position of an object.
Key words and phrases: каузативные глаголы, каузативные конструкции, функционально-семантическое поле, осложненноподчиненное предложение, семифинитив, causative verbs, causative constructions, functional and semantic field, complex subordinate sentence, semifinitive.
