STRATEGIES OF POLITENESS IN THE IDIOLECT BY A. P. CHEKHOV AND GUY DE MAUPASSANT

Abstract. In the article the concept "politeness" is defined by a positive (the strategy of approach) and negative (the strategy of distancing) strategies. One of the hypostases of the concept existence is examined - this is a secondary (artistic) speech activity in literary works. In the paper the usage of the term idiolect in relation to the works of A. P. Chekhov and Guy de Maupassant is shown, which is a novelty as this theme hasn’t been investigated before. As a result of the study of the idiolect of these writers the equivalence of the concept "politeness" is proven in the works under consideration.
