THEME OF DEATH IN THE STORY BY L. N. TOLSTOY "THE COSSACKS"

Abstract. The article examines artistic searching of young L. N. Tolstoy. In the story "The Cossacks" Tolstoy felt the relation of his activity with the demands of the people. New ideas, "plenty of things" in the story made to search for a new manner involving the diversity of tones. Cossacks’ world and the main character of the story are represented in the epical, lyrical and dramatic aspects. Such method of presentation testified that Tolstoy’s realism manifests epical and analytical element.
