LINGUISTIC PERSONALITY AND DISCURSIVE ETHOS

Abstract. In the article the various approaches to the development of the conception of "linguistic personality" are considered. On the basis of the analysis of the results of the psycholinguistic approach development the author comes to the conclusion about the limitedness of this conception which can be overcome if the conception of "linguistic personality" is expanded basing on the rhetorical approach to the study of verbal interaction. Instead of individual identity of the subject of statement his speech image - discursive ethos should be the object of the analysis. This will allow taking into account the mutual conditionality in the formation of individual and discursive identity in the process of communication.
