Abstract. In the article the peculiarities of urban space vision peculiar to the carriers of modern cultural tradition and represented in the folklore genre of legend are revealed. Geographical, architectural and construction images as well as the images of streets and squares are key components modeling the perception of the city. Each element of the urban worldview is endowed with a special semiotic, axiological status. A certain perception of the city marks the representative of the urban culture as a member of this subcultural group.
