Abstract. This article is devoted to the complex process of terms formation in the sublanguage of architecture and civil engineering in a diachronic aspect. The author analyzes the main ways of word formation in this field and gives examples. Moreover, the study raises the questions of studying terminology in the Russian linguistics, and presents the main characteristics of terms.
