Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis of special linguistic means of directive speech acts by the example of the French detective novel by Julian Clay "Blood on the Gross Book". The subject of the linguistic research has become the professional dialogues of the policemen, in which the directive speech acts are expressed by different lexical-stylistic means, such as metaphors, hyperbolas, metonymies and others.
