ON THE MAIN FUNCTION OF THE PARTICLE "ITSELF" IN THE MODERN RUSSIAN LANGUAGE

Sukhov Sergei Vladimirovich
Moscow State Pedagogical University

Abstract. The article examines the main aspects of functioning of the verbal form with the particle "itself" in the modern Russian language. It is shown that for the verbs with which the particle "itself" is mainly used, its principal function is the emphasis of the aspect of the closure of action in the subject sphere, inherent to the lexical meaning of these verbs. This emphasis takes place in the presence of one or several extra contextual meanings (duration, opposition, comfort, evaluation, the desired closure in the subject sphere). Emphasizing these aspects of the meaning of the verbal form is pragmatically perceived as the emergence of a new meaning of a verb. The main results of the original experiment, which prove the offered hypothesis, are described.
Key words and phrases: частица "себе", прагматизация семантики, эксперимент, замкнутость действия в субъектной сфере, дополнительные контекстные значения, the particle "itself", the pragmitizing of the semantics, experiment, closure of action in the subject sphere, extra contextual meanings
