"THE HERALDIC CONSTRUCTION" OF INTERTEXTUALITY IN J. BARNES’ AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL ESSAY "NOTHING TO BE FRIGHTENED OF"

Khar'kova Yuliya Vladimirovna
Bashkir State University

Abstract. The article deals with the implicit intertextual relation of the passage from J. Barnes’ autobiographical essay "Nothing to Be Frightened Of" and the biblical myth of the Fall of Man. The author reveals the intertextual "anomaly" that is such intertextual element of text which cannot get enough weighty motivation from the narrative logic, and builds on its basis the intertextual "heraldic construction" developed by M. B. Iampolski in relation to the phenomenon of intertextuality in the cinematography of the XX century. The use of this construction in the literary text analysis allows explaining the author’s usage of "anomalous quotation" by means of comparing differently-coded text fragments which convey the similar message, and expanding the scope of its interpretation by attracting the texts of other authors.
Key words and phrases: интертекстуальность, интертекстуальная связь, "аномалия", "геральдическая конструкция", цитата, Дж. Барнс, intertextuality, intertextual relation, "anomaly", "heraldic construction", quotation, J. Barnes
