Abstract. This article considers the possibility of the practical application of the word contextual paradigm in classes of Russian as a foreign language and suggests specific ways of its use in the development of exercises for foreign students at various levels of proficiency. Such exercises based on the material of the word contextual paradigm can be useful means of teaching different aspects of grammar, vocabulary and stylistics of the Russian language to foreign-language speakers.
