Abstract. The article is devoted to the problems which foreign students face while getting education in Russia. The questions occurring in the process of socio-cultural adaptation of foreign students to another culture environment are examined. The work experience in teaching foreign students at the Kabardino-Balkarian State University and also recommendations in overcoming the language barrier, acceleration and optimization of the adaptation process, based on the results of the survey conducted among foreign students are presented.
