Abstract. Among the small genres of Yakut folklore, chabyrkhakh - tongue-twister - has great prominence. For the first time, formulaicity foundation of the genre is examined specifically. It becomes clear that its formulaicity is closely connected with the short verse metric. This genre’s formulaicity language appears to be a conservation of the most archaic traits of the poetic language of oral tradition. Genre’s productivity of the formulaicity is retained even in written text i.e. literature.
