MADHOUSE IMAGE IN THE NOVEL BY M. A. BULGAKOV "THE MASTER AND MARGARITA": ON MADNESS MOTIVE REALIZATION

Abstract. The article is devoted to interpreting the madhouse image in the novel by M. A. Bulgakov "The Master and Margarita". The study focuses on the mad world in which the characters live, and this clinic is a kind of spiritual prison where the path of spiritual renewal is available. The author justifies the thesis that the characters’ madness is often provoked by fear initiated not only by the satanic forces but also by the humans themselves. Finally the author concludes that Bulgakov’s character’s madness is an accusation of the system, not somebody’s personal diagnosis.
