AMERICAN TABLOIDS OF THE "JAZZ JOURNALISM" PERIOD (THE 1920S): FORERUNNERS OF THE MASS MEDIA TABLOIDIZATION EPOCH

Abstract. The article is devoted to analyzing the basic features of American tabloid newspapers of the 1920s and their place among the contemporary USA periodicals of the interwar period. Special attention is paid to the content and specifics of functioning of American tabloids in the decade of economic growth and during the Great Depression. The author concludes on relevance of the American tabloid’s basic features in modern media as well. In the television and Internet epoch format and content of American tabloids transferred to modern TV talk-shows and news sites.
