ON INTERPRETATION OF THE STORY BY A. S. PUSHKIN "THE STATION MASTER"

Abstract. The article aims to analyze the reasons for different interpretation of the story by A. S. Pushkin "The Station Master". Focusing on this theme is conditioned by its relevance. Written in a clear and simple language, "The Belkin Tales", in particular "The Station Master", are complicated and mysterious in their content. The problem of "Tales" genre is still debatable. Relying on the analysis the author concludes that the synthesis of different literary genres fits well with the artistic originality of the story "The Station Master". The paper focuses on studying the ethical and philosophical thought of the story according to which humanity and conscience are the basic criteria to evaluate the personages and their actions.
