TOPONYMS AS THE RESOURCE FOR THE FORMATION OF CROSS-CULTURAL COMPETENCE OF PUPILS AT THE LESSONS OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article examines the issue of the formation of cross-cultural competence of the learners of English at the stage of basic general education by the material of the British toponyms. The linguo-didactic potential of toponyms is shown. The description of an educational project, assuming the independent work of pupils with toponyms, is given.
