SYMBOLICS OF ANTHROPONYMS IN THE MARI CULTURE: GENDER ASPECT

Abstract. The article discovers the reconstructed and arranged according to frequency Mari ethnic symbols contained in the female and male Mari anthroponyms. The goal of the paper is achieved by integrated methods based on the component analysis of the 9 348 personal names and on the calculations allowing identifying 38 groups of ethno-symbols. The originality of the study involves the combination of methods and techniques and the findings represented in the form of a chart, bar graph and matrix. The symbols of Mari anthroponyms are basically aim to express the clan’s continuation idea within the monogamous family and a clan (tribe).
