Abstract. The article discovers the meaning of the concept "authors conceptual metaphor" which transforms the habitual conceptions of reality due to the authors creation of a new subjective meaning. The paper analyzes in detail the basic cognitive metaphors in I. Murdochs creative work as a representation of the authors conceptual worldview and the peculiarities of their translation into Russian. The relevance of the problem under study is conditioned by the continuous tendency to improve the translation techniques and by the necessity to study the principles of functioning and formation of the conceptual system.
