Abstract. The paper studies the gender manifestations of emotions in the Russian language at the lexical level. The article deals with the vocabulary that explicates emotions and reflects the gender peculiarities of the communicants. On the basis of V. I. Shakhovskii’s classification the author singles out three types of the vocabulary expressing human emotions: the vocabulary that names emotions; the vocabulary that describes emotions; the vocabulary in which the emotion itself is not named, but it is manifested in the semantics of the word. As the material for the analysis the author chooses M. A. Bulgakov’s novel "The Master and Margarita".
