Velilaeva Liliya Raimovna
Taurida National V. I. Vernadsky University

Abstract. The article introduces a new principle to typologize the USA Scottish poets-emigrants of the XIX century which is based on their sociocultural and socio-literary status. The author identifies the writers-apatrides, uni-patrides ("eternal Scotchmen" or "new Americans") and bi-patrides. The majority of Scottish poets-emigrants refer to bi-patride category. To analyze the forms of author’s self-identification the researcher used textual (artistic, memorative, epistolary and publicistic) and extra-textual (documentary and biographic) methods.
