Abstract. The article discusses the issues of zeugma organizational arrangement and hypozeuxis in the modern Russian language. The author analyzes the typical features of grammatical interpretation of the two devices; on the basis of contrastive analysis the paper clarifies the meaning of these concepts: zeugma shortens the expression due to lexico-semantic repetition or eliminates it completely; and hypozeuxis, on the contrary, is interpreted as an "expansion" of zeugma, and both stylistic figures are united by mutual reversibility relations.
