Abstract. The article examines the process of development of the Chuvash comedy in the 1950-1960s. The subjects, problems, style orientation of genre are revealed by the analysis of plays by N. Aizman, P. Emelyanov, A. Kalgan, and V. Rzhanov. In particular, it is noted that the Chuvash comediography continues to develop rich artistic and aesthetic traditions, inherent in a variety of forms of national comic culture.
