THE COMPARISON OF NONFINITE AND COMBINED MODEL OF EXPRESSING THE CATEGORY OF TAXIS BY THE EXAMPLE OF THE RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article traces down the history of formation of the notion "taxis" in linguistics as a category, characterizing temporal relations between actions. The author sets the objective to describe the principal similarities and differences of the Russian and English language as presenting different models of expressing the category of taxis: nonfinite and combined. Special attention is paid to the problem of adequate rendering taxis meanings by means of literary translation.
