MATERNITY IN THE VALUE SYSTEM OF THE NOVEL BY L. E. ULITSKAYA "MEDEA AND HER CHILDREN"

Abstract. The theme of maternity is one of the most interesting in the world literature. In all the variety of meanings that make up the content of femininity L. Ulitskaya singled out the hypostasis of maternity, which is the beginning of the integral system of female images and motives. The character of the novel Medea Mendes is portrayed by the writer as an "eternal mother", capable of realizing the "great task" of preserving life, spiritual foundations of the people and affirmation of their national dignity through real deeds. As a result of the study the conception of the work is specified, the features of the feminine basis in the novel are determined.
