Abstract. This article is devoted to the influence of translator’s personality on the quality of translation. Within the framework of the cognitive-discursive approach, the gender factor influencing the choice of linguistic means of "female" and "male" translation of one literary work from German into Russian is analyzed. The analysis shows that in addition to gender identity, the creation of literary translation is also affected by age and educational factors. Besides, the quality of translation depends on the skill of the translator, his/her talent and creative intuition.
