THE PROBLEM OF STANDARD AGAINST THE BACKGROUND OF DIALECTS DIVERSITY IN DIFFERENT LANGUAGES OF THE WORLD

Abstract. The article deals with the problems of the pronunciation norm and its variability in different languages on the territory of India, China, Russia, France, Germany, England. Particular attention is paid to the phenomenon of free variation, the features of its manifestation are illustrated by the material of the phoneme /t/ in the British English. The following allophones and phonemic substitutions are identified in the intervocalic position: pre-aspirate, alveolar strike and slide, sibilants, guttural explosion.
