Abstract. The article deals with the review of theoretical works devoted to the study of terms. The authors analyze the dictionary and research definitions of the term, consider the main provisions of scientific works on the stated problem, and identify the main characteristics and classifications of the notion under study. Based on the analysis of term dictionary definitions, the authors formulate a generalized definition of this notion.
