"DEATH AND WATER": LERMONTOV’S PRETEXT TO K. M. SIMONOV’S POEM "RAINS"

Abstract. The article proves that the poem by K. Simonov "Rains" is deliberately oriented to Lermontov’s "Valerik". The comparative analysis revealed the aspects of continuity: the use of pretext genre model, the orientation to its composition and the recreation of the formal characteristics of its verse. The author finds out the cause of Simon’s reference to "Valerik": the poem "Rains" is based on real events, the comprehension of which required a shift of picture emphasis from the battle to its consequences and actualized the mythologeme of dead water. These features prompted Lermontov’s poem as a model.
