LANGUAGE AND RHETORICAL MEANS OF DELEGITIMIZATION OF RUSSIA AND SYRIA IN THE SPEECH OF THE USA REPRESENTATIVES IN THE UNITED NATIONS

Abstract. The article analyzes the language means and rhetoric techniques involved in the implementation of the strategy of delegitimization of Russia and the government of Syria. The material for the study is the speeches of the USA representatives in the UN Samantha Power and David Pressman on the subject of the Syrian military conflict. It is shown how through evaluative lexis, metaphors, allusions and methods of argumentation, the idea of the illegality of the Russian-Syrian military operation in 2015-2016 is formed.
