PHONETIC INTERFERENCE IN THE BBC NATIONAL NEWS PROGRAMMES

Il'ina Kristina Aleksandrovna
Lomonosov Moscow State University

Abstract. The article discusses the features of phonetic interference as a particular rhetorical technique in the national news TV programmes of BBC. The author indicates changes in the presentation of the material, due to a number of extralinguistic factors, such as the emergence of new digital technologies, the conditions of high competition between different media, as well as the behavioral characteristics of the audience, which largely determine the format of television news. The variability of speech comes to the foreground which is often achieved through intentional mixing of different internal British pronunciation varieties. The analysis of the material is carried out.
