Abstract. This article analyzes the features of the functioning of the verbal act of censure in the oral pedagogical discourse. The object of its evaluation is identified - an action or behaviour, but not student’s personality, as well as the pragmatic conditions of implementation. The methods of performing the evaluative speech act of censure are considered: verbal, interjection and with the help of non-verbal means. The author reveals distinctive features of the evaluative speech act of censure from such evaluative speech acts as criticism, reproach and remark.
