THE PRAGMATIC PECULIARITIES OF THE FUNCTIONING OF ANGLICISMS IN THE FRENCH PRESS

Abstract. In the article the peculiarities of the functioning of Anglicisms in the French media are analyzed, and their pragmatic potential is ascertained. On the basis of the typological commonality of linguistic phenomena taking their systemic origin in English, the authors use the term "Anglo-Americanism" to refer to the loan-words related to the American culture. It is noted that one of the important factors of the expansion of Anglicisms into French journalism is the rapid development of information technologies, which has led to the emergence and internationalization of a large number of English-speaking terms-neologisms.
