FUNCTIONAL INTRODUCTORY MODAL WORDS CORRELATING WITH THE SHORT FORMS OF ADJECTIVES, PREDICATIVE EXPRESSIONS AND ADVERBS

Shigurov Viktor Vasil'evich
National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University

Abstract. The article determines the specificity of peripheral introductory modal words formed as a result of functional modalation of adjectives, predicative expressions and adverbs like "clearly", "amazingly", "obviously". The author identifies semantic-grammatical shifts and syncretism in the mentioned word forms used in the introductory modal position. The paper establishes the types of homonymic collision of linguistic units of different categorial affiliation in the contexts of modalation, predicativation and adverbialization. Special attention is paid to the fact that in the introduction function peripheral modalates realize subjective-modal semantics of persuasiveness and intellectual-emotive evaluation of a message.
