THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MELODIC SPEECH PATTERN ELEMENTS

Abstract. The article touches upon some peculiarities of the auditive analysis of the melody, in which such characteristics of the melody form as the direction of the tone movement, the character and the range of the tone movement are used. The author considers the important components of the melodic outline, which can help the researcher to understand more accurately the nature of the melodic outline, and also assess the emotional state of the speaker. The range altitude, which can indicate the strength of the voice and express some meanings, is analyzed as well. Changes in the range altitude can be associated with the expression of emotions. The range altitude also has figurative meanings and it is one of the means of speech expressiveness.
